Dear friends and family,
I humbly ask that you please keep my friend and me in your prayers tonight. Last Thursday after work, I was involved in a serious car accident. We had a green light, and the other driver failed to yield during a left turn in the middle of the intersection. The vehicle then impacted another, resulting in a three-car collision. I was taken to the hospital immediately, where doctors ran several tests and performed a CT scan. By the grace of God, everything came back clear. I do have hematomas on my head and abdomen, ringing in my ears from the airbags deploying, and deep bruising across my chest, sides, and stomach. Moving around is still painful and slow, but I am incredibly thankful that a week later I am able to get up, take steps forward, and begin the journey of healing.
This Jeep was my very first car, and it was heartbreaking to watch it be towed from the scene. But it did exactly what it was built to do, it protected my life. I chose a Jeep back in 2016 for two important reasons. Years ago, a Wrangler Sahara saved my brother’s life in a life-threatening accident, and I always believed it was the closest thing to driving a tank. Now I understand that even more deeply. My brother and I are both living proof of the protection that vehicle provided.
Through this experience, I truly feel that God’s hand was over us. Wrapped in His protection and covered by the blood of Jesus. His love is constant, His mercy is real, and my heart is overflowing with gratefulness that we are still here. Moments like this remind you just how fragile life can be, but also how powerful faith, prayer, and God’s grace truly are.
I want to sincerely thank Sabina for reaching out to others on my behalf, and to every single person who has checked in, sent prayers, messages, and encouragement. The messages I've received have truly lifted my spirit and my strength. I am immensely and incredibly blessed with the most caring family who have been my strength, comfort, and support during this time. Thank you Teresa and Hector for all that you do for me. Cindy, Tim, Teresa for the thoughtful gifts and for helping me with doctor’s appointments and so many other things during this time.. I am also grateful for the friends who have stepped in with support and kindness.. Drake, thank you for being there with us in the hospital and refusing to leave until you knew we were going to be okay. Juanica, thank you for delivering such delicious meals. Nico and Sergio, thank you for the drop-offs. And to the many others who reached out, prayed, and showed kindness... God bless each of you, tenfold. 🙏
And to my 2015 Jeep Wrangler... thank you for being my first adventure car. You carried me through state trips, rallies, tournaments, celebrations, and so many memories that I will cherish for the rest of my life. Your job was to keep me safe, and in the moment that mattered most, you did exactly that. Thank you also to the kind man who gave me the Jeep rug as a small souvenir.
My only request now is for my friend Roberto and I to be in your prayers as we both recover and heal.
Though I've cried everyday since this accident... Above all, my heart is full of hope and gratitude.
Thank you, Jesus... we are alive.
